Travel Destination : Launceston, Tasmania

Road to Mount Cradle, 2012

Here are some photos of Launceston from last summer. They said, the best time to be there is summer, that's if you are a foodie like me, eager to experience fruit picking at 38 degrees! I have a low tolerance for heat, my second name is "Puteri Lilin" (direct translation from Malay, a Candle Princess, means not able to withstand heat), I will literally melt under the sun. Launceston offers many scenic attractions, as my stay here was not lengthy, here are three of my favourites.

Confessions of a Chocoholic

How chocoholic are you?

As content as is, a fix of Max Brenner once a fortnight, my favourite banana bread topped with dark chocolate drizzle. Not really, there is no where else to turn to, and that is why I'd turn to Melbourne. For the love of exquisite french pastries and dessert heaven. Not to mention, the selection of elaborated coffee, lets not stray too far this time.

Eggs Benedict, slightly overrated.

Eggs benedict with Wasabi Hollandaise, 2013

Everyone loves eggs benedict, the filthy, buttery hollandaise sauce over humble poached eggs. I love my sourdough, what my mum names it to be textured like the skin of a tree trunk, or a simple wholegrain english muffin, served with smoke salmon, ham or avocado.

the First and Last?

Auckland, 2012

Hey, it's me, I've returned from some where far far away. If you don't know me yet, I previously wrote Bitter Sweet Flavours. The girl who can't spell the F word right, pays no attention to her blog readers and finds life's too short to stick to one blog.

Everything has an expiry date, especially when it comes to winning my attention. I would buy a cute little journal at the beginning of the year (which I obviously already did), write as carefully as I can on the first few pages, trying so so hard not to rip the book in half, make it look fancy-pansy, then the remaining pages gets stamped by layers of dust. Guess I warned you that this could be my first and last post of Bitter Sweet Storeys which stops at ground level. Punned.

I am not a writer. After a month or so, I'll probably read all the crap that I wrote thinking it's silly. Basically cause most of the time it sounds like I am hallucinating, talking, typing away to myself, for instance, smiling at the camera. It's a bloody device. That's why I did not use to smile at the camera when I was young. It looks silly to pretend that you are very happy to be standing beside a bush, in a hot and humid weather looking at a black box waiting for a bright flash, trying to keep your eyes open as widely as possible. I am sure we all have at least one horrible candid, eyes closed or in the middle of a conversation. I am not a writer, because I tend stray away from the topic.

Why not revive the old blog?
Well... I like new things. Just like moving into a new home. Everything's brand new, I get to whinge about the same old stuff and you can't sue me for it. Moreover, not bounded by the pressure to bake in order to blog. I hate to admit that I miss the bakers' community, I still do read the same blogs. However, this blog shall not be bounded to food.

Currently residing in Australia, technology serves it's purpose.

Yet, I am very curious, of how everyone's going. I've missed writing, no doubt I had met real people and made friends, who shared their honest opinion and lives apart from blogging. Although this page will not solely be based on recipes, I would make kick-start by publishing some of my favourite reads.
